Acupuncture Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points of the body. These points lie on channels through which the body’s Qi (or vital energy) flow. Qi consists of equal and opposite qualities – Yin and Yang.
The flow of “Qi” can be disturbed by many factors, physical, mental and emotional. Through the correct selection of points, it is possible to increase the flow of Qi where it is deficient, or disperse areas, where the flow of Qi has became stagnated or blocked. By inserting fine, sterile needles into specific points on the channels, your acupuncturist can stimulate the body’s own healing response and help to restore its natural balance. |
Needles in acupuncture are very different to the hypodermic needles familiar to Western medicine. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine and the sensation on insertion is usually of a dull ache, rather than any sharp pain. They are sterilised and used only once before being disposed of. It is effective for pain relief and a wide range of conditions both chronic and acute.
Using acupuncture needles, the practitioner can harmonise and help to achieve wellness in the human body. Although, it is scientifically proven to relax the body, when it is applied with TCM principles |
